ISHPES Membership

A membership at the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES) includes:

--the online access to bi-annual Bulletin

--special rates at the ISHPES congresses and seminars

--the possibility to post new sport history related book publications on the ISHPES Homepage

For Young Scholars who are ISHPES members there is the possibility to participate at the Gigliola Gori Young Scholar award, which is awarded annually.

For institutional members: only one member can represent the institution at the general assembly or an ISHPES conference or seminar.

ISHPES also supports the PhD Summer School organized by Gertrud Pfister at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, and the meetings of the Transnational Scholars for the Study of Gender and Sport.

Membership dues start on January 1 of a calendar year and end December 31 of the same calendar year.

H-Sport Listserv

To improve communications between sports historians, ISHPES established an e-mail network of sports scholars.

This listserv is called H-Sport and is maintained by H-Net, the Humanities and Social Sciences Online Network (www.h-net.org)

Anyone interested in sport history, sociology, philosophy, or other socio-cultural studies can join H-Sport. Membership in ISHPES is not necessary and subscription is free. Network subscribers are able to send and receive mail, information, announcements, and so on, to and from colleagues throughout the world. As a member of H-Net, announcements can be submitted to all of lists managed by H-Net, reaching tens of thousands of scholars.
