What ISHPES award represents

the ISHPES award is our community’s highest honor. The ISHPES Award is presented

  • as a tribute to a scholar with a life-long record of research in sport history, or
  • has made a significant contribution through their research in sport history, or
  • has made a significant contribution to ISHPES and the promotion of sport history.

Designation process

The selection of the award winner follows a participatory process, supported by external expertise and overseen by the Award and Honours Committee.

Candidates list constitution

All ISHPES members can suggest a candidate supported by two letters of recommendation with the link to the professional webpage and short arguments to explain why he/she fits with the award (link to the definition of the award and the theme of the congress). Award and Honours Committee can provide additional names to complete a list of plural (ideally more than 3) candidates.

Selection

    1. Award and Honours Committee orders the candidates
    2. two external experts verify the relevance of the classification
    3. The executive confirmed the suggested winner
