What ISHPES award represents
the ISHPES award is our community’s highest honor. The ISHPES Award is presented
- as a tribute to a scholar with a life-long record of research in sport history, or
- has made a significant contribution through their research in sport history, or
- has made a significant contribution to ISHPES and the promotion of sport history.
Designation process
The selection of the award winner follows a participatory process, supported by external expertise and overseen by the Award and Honours Committee.
Candidates list constitution
All ISHPES members can suggest a candidate supported by two letters of recommendation with the link to the professional webpage and short arguments to explain why he/she fits with the award (link to the definition of the award and the theme of the congress). Award and Honours Committee can provide additional names to complete a list of plural (ideally more than 3) candidates.
Selection
- Award and Honours Committee orders the candidates
- two external experts verify the relevance of the classification
- The executive confirmed the suggested winner
